Cirer highlights the importance of prevention and information regarding the dangers of the Internet for minors

PALMA 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Families and Social Affairs, Catalina Cirer, has highlighted the importance of prevention, information and awareness about the dangers of the Internet for minors.

This is how Cirer expressed himself this Wednesday before starting the day on the impact of inappropriate content on minors through the Internet, organized by the Office for Children and Adolescents (OBIA) and held in Son Espases.

“We must be very sensitive to this issue, both as mothers or members of society and professionals, to take measures in this regard,” said the counselor, adding that it is “basic” to provide information and education in this regard.

Furthermore, he has stressed the need to know “what it is, what happens and what can happen when there is certain consumption or viewing that in theory seems harmless and is very harmful to youth.” For Cirer, pedagogy in schools is very important and offering a lot of information about it.

In relation to the consumption of pornography, Cirer has referred to the figures that indicate that the consumption of this content is early among minors, stressing the importance of “being aware that the danger is very close.” For this reason, he has stressed that we must act responsibly both from institutions and from society in general.

For her part, the general director of the OBIA, María del Mar Pulido, has appealed to the need to teach minors what the limits are on networks in a “coherent” way, to provide knowledge and information, among other issues, to be able to protect them in today’s world.

“You cannot transfer responsibility to minors for what is happening on the networks, they must be protected with prevention, there is no other formula,” Pulido stressed.
