The eighth wave of Covid-19 will have been short-lived. Started last September, it continues to decline in the region.
As winter approaches, Covid incidence rates plummet. Within two weeks, they have more than halved across the region. In the Rhone there is a loss of -65%. The Haute Loire, where rates are still the highest, loses -52.61%.
The health situation continues to improve. There is a decrease in the number of hospitalizations in the Loire, Ain, Haute-Loire and Jura. In the Rhone, this is still a bit on the rise with 15 more hospitalizations in one week. ICU admissions remain stable in our wards.
Yet, in recent weeks, incidence rates seemed to be climbing back to just over 7%. Too early to predict a resurgence of the epidemic. It could also be a simple tremor often seen during the descending phase.
Some fifty people recently lost their lives in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the victims of the virus have been 8,129.
