Catalunya Moto GP Grand Prix
The Spanish motor plant Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is currently in the middle of an ambitious transformation project to position itself as the most modern, environmentally friendly track in Europe.
An investment plan of 50 million euros until 2026 aims to modernize and adapt the engine plant, about 3 miles north of Barcelona, to new needs by promoting a more sustainable, innovative, industrial and digital model with the aim of making the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya a key infrastructure for the country’s industry.
In this direction, several improvement measures have been initiated at the facility this year, which include extensive remodeling of the control tower, briefing room, press room, staff and timekeepers’ offices and VIP areas. New offices and meeting rooms for business and social events will also be created.
The terrace of the depot building is also being renovated with the construction of a new roof. Among the novelties for 2024, the creation of the “Rooftop”, a VIP footbridge that connects the pit with the area around the stadium, is highlighted.
The new plan also aims to make the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya the most prominent motor plant in terms of environmental commitment and the transformations that this type of plant must undergo in view of the climate crisis.
Currently, the Catalunya circuit is already a global reference for its commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment, but the goal is to go even further.
In this context, last October the track inaugurated Catalonia’s largest public solar plant for its own use. Since then, the facility has a total of 1,239 solar panels that generate 33% of the energy that Circuit consumes today.
In addition to the 4,675 meters of track, the facility also has 25 hectares of green areas that enable the organization of special events linked to entertainment and healthy leisure.
Currently, they are working to make 2024 an extraordinary season and offer fans experiences they have never seen before. The Catalunya circuit has a valid agreement until 2026 with Formula 1 and MotoGP, and the relationship with both championships is said to be excellent.
The objective of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is to take the facility to another level and make it the most modern, sustainable and innovative in Europe.
