Circo del Sol fires 95% of its workers and is on the verge of bankruptcy

Many companies in the world have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, one of them has been the popular Circo del Sol (Cirque du Soleil), a company that is on the verge of bankruptcy after laying off 95% of its employees.

This decision was made after the company has canceled 44 shows worldwide, laying off a total of 4,679 workers. This to avoid crowds and seek to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Regarding this difficult situation, the founder and former director of the Circo del Sol, Guy Laliberté, said that he intends to buy the company he co-founded in 1984.

“The Circo del Sol has given me so much … If I can help, we will be there,” he told AFP. “We have a good plan. We believe that we can bring back the sacred fire ”, he added to the mentioned agency.

So far, Laliberté has not given details of his project, but on May 13, in an open letter, he expressed his desire to support the Circo del Sol, which would have a debt of $ 900 million.

It should be noted that many companies in the world, especially in the United States, have had to declare bankruptcy due to the stoppage of their activities due to the global health crisis.
