The manufacturer of smart rings “Oura” had not come up with news in its product segment for a long time. After several months of silence, the company has announced a new feature called Circles, which will allow you to share health and activity data with other Oura users.
Circles is a community-like feature that allows an Oura user to create or join up to ten private groups of up to 10 members starting June 8. With these groups, the user can share health, sleep and activity data not older than two weeks. It is also possible to share both daily and weekly summary data. The user also has the option to choose which data they want to share in which group. Circles also offers emoticons that allow you to react to posts.
It should be noted that the “Oura” ring monitors and collects various user health and activity data, such as heart rate, its variability, temperature, blood oxygen level, breathing regularity, a great focus is also placed on sleep quality measurements. This health data is aggregated into three indicators: readiness, sleep and activity.
Currently, the cheapest of the Oura rings is available for 314 euros. If you are interested in health data, then perhaps you could consider such a purchase. But there is one big BUT. To use the features offered by the ring and to be able to keep track of the data, it is necessary to purchase a subscription for $6 per month. It somehow doesn’t seem logical and right to me, considering the price of the ring itself, and that was also the main thing that kept me from buying it.
