Dörnthaler want to turn the cash cube off
The cash cube in Dörnthal is due to go offline on January 11th. Citizens demand: The Erzgebirgskreis must act on the Sparkasse so that it can reverse its decision. But the district sees no reason to.

In a petition with more than 20 signatories, the receipt of the cube is requested. One of the signatories is Thomas Böttcher, Mayor of Haselbach: “The people are angry.” Although many have remained loyal to the Sparkasse for decades, they have now been left in the lurch. He refers to the public mandate of the credit institution. “The circle has an obligation to do something.” Jutta Schaarschnitt, a pensioner from Dörnthal, sees it that way too. District administrator Frank Vogel must act and put a stop to the Sparkasse.
As chairman of the board of directors, Frank Vogel spoke out in favor of the savings plans. He hopes for understanding: the savings bank has to work profitably. This is the only way for her to fulfill the public mandate and, for example, to give loans to secure jobs. Due to the low interest rate environment, savings are imperative, according to the district administrator. District councils are also part of the board of directors.
Vogel also emphasizes that the branch network in the region, with 2.1 branches per 10,000 inhabitants, is still above average. In the area of the East German Savings Banks Association, the average is 1.6. Against this background, the Board of Directors approved. Vogel: “I see no reason to change the plans for Dörnthal.” However, he welcomes the fact that the Sparkasse is trying to find an alternative in cooperation with the city. (geom)
