The conference will not be one of the classics of the Circle as it extends its thematics to aspects of culture that marked and accompanied in their own way the path to the conquest of the Republic.
The conference will be attended by George Rorris, Stamatis Fasoulis, Angelos Papadimitriou, Manolis Mitsias, Eva Nathena, Tasos Boulmetis, Roula Georgakopoulou, Karolina Mermiga, George Skabardonis, Katerina Schina, Christos Homenidis. Dionysis Savvopoulos will also make an intervention, while the conference will close musically with the “ballad of the Transition”, a composition that seeks the sound of Nikos Kipourgou’s Transition, sung by Savvina Giannatou and Thanasis Voutsas.
Tomorrow’s first day will start with a surprise that the organizers do not reveal, it will be presented and discussed under the title “Transcolonization as a moment and as a situation: the curve of the self-awareness of the Greek society” research conducted by Metron Analysis in collaboration with Circle of Ideas on the way in which public opinion takes up the Postcolonialism and positions itself against its “acquisitiveness” in all that this may mean. The presentation of the research will be made by Stratos Fanaras and Yiannis Balapanidis, followed by a discussion with Pavlos Tsimas, Giorgos Kouvaras and Evangelos Venizelos.
Then there will be a series of testimonies about the Postcolonization with Giorgos Vernikos, Petros Efthymiou, Manuela Pavlidou, Telis Samantas and Yiannis Sergopoulos.
The second day, Monday 13 May, is dedicated to the historical, institutional, international political and sociological approach of the Post-Revolution. The first theme concerns the intersections and continuities of the post-colonial period. An attempt will be made to assess the international and domestic milestones that intersect the fiftieth year.
The second topic is identified with the question of whether the institutional foundation of the Post-colonialism is still valid, which is not limited to the events of 1974 and the adoption of the Constitution of 1975, but also includes many other aspects that reach up to the referendum of 2015.
The third topic belongs to the “root trauma” of the Postcolonial period, which is obviously the military defeat in Cyprus, and is called upon to answer the question of how this affects the national strategy to this day.
The fourth topic concerns the search for the “political genome” of the Post-colonial period, the memories, the syndromes, the myths, the stereotypes, the interactions that characterize the period and therefore the Greek society and the national identity.
The second day closes with a discussion about the Greek song as a “body” in which the fiftieth anniversary of the Post-colonialism is captured.
The first topic of the third day, Tuesday, May 14, belongs to the overall overview of the Greek economy that experienced a first Postcolonization in 1974 and a second “Postcolonization” with the financial crisis. Soon after, Generation Z formulates its opinion on the Postcolonial. Here are three cultural topics. The first has as its subject the narratives, the second the aesthetics and the third the scene and the representations of the Post-colonialism. After an important intervention, the concluding dialogue will be held on the great dipoles of the fifties as omens for the future.
The conference will be held at the Great Britannia Hotel and is organized in collaboration with the Delphi Economic Forum.
