Circle and Tether Freeze Millions of USDC and USDT Tokens: Multichain and Ethereum Updates

Circle has frozen 63.2 million USDC on three addresses derived from the Multichain cross-chain protocol. This was reported by the 0xScope team.

USDT stablecoin issuer Tether has frozen more than 2.5 million USDT at two addresses on the Ethereum network, the Fantom Foundation team said.

On July 6, Multichain suspended operations due to an alleged exploit. According to PeckShieldabout $126 million worth of tokens were withdrawn from the protocol.

In May, Multichain experienced technical issues during a network upgrade. The team faced difficulties in eliminating them due to the loss of communication with the CEO of the project, Zhao Jun.

Recall that the Binance cryptocurrency exchange has suspended support for Multichain-related tokens due to the May incident.
