Liene Cipule, head of the Emergency Medical Service (EMSS), has been successfully leading such an important institution for the country for the second term – she is experienced both in the collective and in the nation. In this week’s interview for “Ieva” magazine, Cipule also allowed a glimpse into her private life, for example by revealing that her husband has a second wife, but the first one was Cipule’s own girlfriend.

Liene Cipulei is 47 years old, she is the mother of three sons – the youngest is only six years old. As the head of the NMPD reveals in the interview to “Ieva”, she got married at the age of 30, although there were love affairs and courtships even before that. Cipule learned about her true self from a “half-witch” who said: “You already know your future husband!”
“I thought intensively – which of all my thugs is the real one? At no point did it occur to me that this man is married to someone I know… Yes, the situation was not easy, but I was comforted by the fact that I was not the cause of the breakup of this relationship. And I’ve never regretted making that choice. My husband has just always been the right person for me. It couldn’t be otherwise, because it was meant to be. For some reason, we have the idea that people in a couple belong to each other, but in reality, no one belongs to anyone, and everyone has to make the decisions that are on their side. If I had married the guy I thought I was when I was young, I wouldn’t be half of who I am and I wouldn’t be where I am,” Cipule explains, highlighting her husband’s enormous support in family life.
Cipule’s husband also works in the service led by her, and only after the age of 40 did he start learning the field, because he realized that medicine is his vocation. The head of the NMPD looks at it with respect and admiration: “How he has to study and prove himself, because he is the director’s husband!”
In his free time from work, Cipule and his spouse like visiting the theater, which is sometimes combined with dinner in a restaurant.
