Cinesa will open its first three cinemas on June 8 | Cinema in the SER

Chinese, the main film exhibition group in Spain, announced this Monday that it is ready to open its first cinemas. Will do it next Monday, June 8. It will only be an outpost, since there will only be three rooms that will be in operation on that date. The cinemas chosen by the company are the Cinesa As Cancelas in Santiago de Compostela, Cinesa Puerto Venecia, in Zaragoza and Cinesa Luxe Bonaire in Valencia.

According to company sources, the idea is to open in three cinemas in areas where the pandemic is controlled, to get an idea of how it will work in the rest of the country, once all the theaters that the company has distributed throughout Spain are reopened.

The reopening, the group points out in a released statement, will be carried out applying special security protocols for the coronavirus and with a “powerful” billboard but without premieres for the moment. There will be titles that have already passed through theaters in recent years and that have had a good collection, such as Conjuring I, Wonder Woman, Joker -the most recent of all- and Geminis.

Cinesa will apply “social distance measures” in its theaters, such as restricting the capacity of each session and guaranteeing free seats between spectators and will implement protocols “to promote a circuit with minimal contact” and to promote cleaning systems. One of the problems that was giving the company the most headaches was adapting the bathrooms to this new normal.

In addition to these three cinemas, the company hopes to reopen others in the following weeks and will inform about it. Cinesa is the first of the large groups that has announced the first reopening of theaters in Spain after the closure forced by the coronavirus, although some theaters have already opened, such as the Cine Almenara in Lorca, Murcia, which has been in operation for two weeks. , also with titles already released.

The lack of unpublished premieres is the main problem for cinemas, so HE DID, the Federation of Cinematographic Exhibitors, had set the opening date for tall the sector on June 26, uThe date closest to the arrival of the new releases. However, Cinesa has gone ahead. Many smaller cinemas wait until June 19 or June 26 to reopen their doors, as confirmed to the SER string. This is the case of the Renoir Cinemas in Madrid and Guadalajara, or the Basque cinemas belonging to EZADE.

Of course, the first to open were drive-ins, outdoors, and specifically the one in Denia (Alicante), which raised the curtain on May 14. Then those of Getxo, Valencia and Madrid have been added. Just this Monday, they have also announced their reopening, although already for July, the summer outdoor cinemas of Madrid.

As for the premieres, the date marked in red on the calendar for now is June 26, when titles such as Personal Assistant (Universal) are scheduled to hit the billboard, with Dakota Johnson; Run like one, with Teresa Palmer and Sam Neill, and the Spanish film La Cinta de Álex, among others.

Later in the summer will arrive some of the most anticipated titles such as Tenet de Christopher Nolan, Wonder Woman 1984, Mulan from Disney, the high hopes for the box office in our country. Already in August, it will be the turn of the Spanish films Father there is only one 2, by Santiago Segura, and Rosa’s wedding, by Icíar Bollaín
