Cakes discuss current partnerships and family relationships, which are often far from ideal. The stories of the individual heroes show that people are connected perhaps more than they admit, whether by work, chance, hatred, or love.
“For me, it’s a film about friendship, about things that can get out of control, just like today, but people still don’t stop living and somehow we all try to get the best out of ourselves, even if we sometimes fail,” he explains. Bábovky Rudolf Havlík.
It would not be possible without compromise
In a pair with this director, Radka Třeštíková has already written a screenplay for his comedy What Men Want. At Bábovky, however, they rewrote her own model for the first time, devoting four years to it. “I was more of a guy when I wrote and he was more romantic and more sensitive,” notes the writer.
According to the film’s director and screenwriter, he read Bábovka about twenty times. “Of course, my idea is a little different from hers and there were our conjectures and fears that it would turn out well, but because Radka and I have known each other for a really long time, we were able to say it,” Havlík admits that the creators had to into the film to seek occasional compromises.
Compared to the book, for example, fewer characters fit in the film. “I originally wanted everyone there. So, whatever we deleted, I was sorry, “says Třeštíková.

Jana Plodková, Lenka Vlasáková, Táňa Pauhofová and Barbora Poláková will appear in the cast of the novelty. Ondřej Vetchý, Marek Taclík, Jiří Langmajer and Rostislav Novák took on the role of their male counterparts. The film was co-produced by Czech Television.
Radka Třeštíková’s first novel was published six years ago and was bought by over two hundred thousand readers. “If I had to decide that I still want to see some of my books on the screen at all, it would be the last one, because it’s a crazy ride,” admits another film by the author. She named her last book, published this spring, Foukneš foamy, and sent her heroine in an electric car on a journey to the end of the world.
