Cinemas on the verge of new lockdown

<!–

The chance that No Time to Die can be seen in the cinema in November is getting smaller by the day. The new measures that have been announced tonight also have consequences for the cinemas and the halls may have to be locked again in three weeks.

Yesterday, Pathé reported that since the reopening on 1 June, approximately 2 million visitors have come to the performances in the Pathé and Euroscoop cinemas.

Despite the fact that normally about 4 million visitors show up during that period, the number is quite decent. Only a third of the maximum capacity is currently being used. That capacity is now even less, and the supply may increase.

New measures for cinemas
Nationally, a measure has been announced that meetings with a maximum of 30 people may be present, which corresponds to the situation between 1 June and 1 July 2020.

However, it was indicated that security regions allow exceptions for the cultural sector, so who knows, there may still be some room for the ‘best outing in the dark’.

New lockdown in three weeks?
Even more shocking is the prospect that – should the reproduction number (R) not drop fast enough – we can go back to the intelligente lockdown. In that case, there is a chance that all cinemas may close their doors again.
