The local region offers cinema at a high level: for its outstanding film program, Film FernsehenFonds Bayern GmbH (FFF Bayern) has selected, among others, the Casino in Aschaffenburg, the Kino-Passage in Erlenbach (Miltenberg district) and the Movie in the Luitpoldhaus in Marktheidenfeld (district Main-Spessart) awarded.

The film theaters in Aschaffenburg and Erlenbach each received 15,000 euros, and the one in Marktheidenfeld received 7,500 euros. According to a press release, FFF Bayern awarded a total of 78 cinemas for their outstanding film program. The award ceremony took place in Landshut. The Bavarian Media Minister Florian Herrmann presented the certificates.

Herrmann said at the award ceremony: “Cinema lets us immerse ourselves in other worlds, forgetting everyday life – no matter how dark it is – for at least 90 minutes. Cinema takes us on adventurous journeys, into biographies of remarkable people, lets us revel or shudder before what has been or what will perhaps come.” The cinemas, Herrmann continued, have continued to invest even in difficult times in order to remain attractive to a broad audience. It is “the success of the creative cinema operators in Bavaria that the audience people of all ages are flocking back to the cinema.«

In total, the FFF distributed 835,000 euros. 24 cinemas received 7,500 euros, 32 received 10,000 euros and 21 cinemas were awarded 15,000 euros. The top prize in 2023 of 20,000 euros went to the Casablanca Filmkunsttheater in Nuremberg. According to the FFF, cinemas must apply for a cinema program bonus. 106 applications were received for 2023. The FFF award committee decided on the awarding of the 78 program awards.

The FFF Bayern sees it as its task to provide quantitative and high-quality film funding in Bavaria. The shareholders of FFF Bayern are the Free State of Bavaria, Bayerische Rundfunk, ZDF, RTL, the Seven. One Entertainment Group, the Bavarian State Center for New Media and Sky. Joff
