Cinemas in Ostholstein plan to restart on July 1, 2021

The long Corona forced break for the cinemas has left its mark. “It bothered us all a lot,” says Lars-Roman Paech from the Movie Star in Bad Schwartau. He is relieved that it is finally starting again. There has already been a first employee meeting to plan and organize the restart. “We have become fewer,” reports Paech. Of the original 30 women and men, only 20 are still on board. “For many temporary workers who do not receive short-time work benefits, the time could not be bridged,” says Paech.

Promising films hit the market

Before the New start on July 1st, there is still a lot to do in Ostholstein’s largest cinema. The cinema workforce now meets for several cleaning jobs. “It’s unbelievable how dusty everything is,” says Paech. Of course, the technology also has to be restored and maintained.

Basically, the cinema boss welcomes having a little lead time. Especially since the European Football Championship starts on June 11th. He also hopes that the incidences will drop even further in July, so that more viewers can enter the cinema halls. Currently, a maximum of 125 are allowed. Promising films are also coming onto the market with “Peter Hase 2”, “Fast & Furious 9”, “A Quiet Place 2” and “Catweazle” with comedian Otto. “They still have to be advertised accordingly. So it makes sense to wait a little longer, ”says Paech, who can certainly imagine opening twice before July 1st. “There are still talks with the municipal cinema and senior cinema. We could use the ideas beforehand to warm up. “

Oldenburg is planning a small warm-up for movie buffs

“We will officially reopen on July 1st,” explains Lothar Irrgang, operator of the Lichtblick Fimtheater in Oldenburg. In order to shorten the waiting time, from June 10th he will be offering a short warm-up for those interested in film for extended weekends from Thursday to Sunday. “The guests can contact us and request films,” says Irrgang.

In preparation, the building was recently checked and maintenance work was carried out. “The projectors have been restored to full working order,” emphasizes Irrgang. Contact details are recorded in Lichtblick when reserving or purchasing tickets online, on site using the Luca app or in paper form. The tests and certificates are checked directly at the checkout.

Cine Royal in Eutin: cleaning and replenishing supplies

“The Cine Royal in Eutin will open on July 1st,” says Fredy Müller, who has been running the cinema with his wife Gisela for 13 years. He doesn’t want to offer a warm-up in advance, “I don’t see any point in that. But we will advertise in the showcases in good time so that people know that things are going again. “

Fredy Müller reports that he will find out from the distributor eight to ten days in advance which films the Cine Royal will be able to launch again. He and his wife use June to clean the cinema and get supplies again. “During the lockdown, we gave away a lot of sweets or threw them away because the best-before date had expired. We also had to throw away beer, cola and other drinks, ”says Gisela Müller.

Koki Neustadt wants “Nomadland”

The communal cinema Koki in Neustadt has been in deep sleep for a year, says the chairwoman of the non-profit association, Sylvia Blankenburg. At the weekend, the board wanted to discuss how to wake it up again. The Koki rents the cinema center hall in Neustadt for its performances. “We actually show films twice a month, once an art house film, once a documentary”, says Sylvia Blankenburg, who describes the regular audience as well as the members of the association as “at least over 60”. You can imagine starting in July with a monthly performance. “One wish would be the Oscar-winning film ‘Nomadland’,” she says. In the course of the year, the association would also like to set up something special: “We are ten years old,” said the chairwoman.

Kino Neustadt shows the European Football Championship and family films

Games from the European Football Championship will be the first to be seen on the screens in the cinema Vor dem Kremper Tor in Neustadt. In June, Oliver Dittmer and Jan Hoff also want to show their audience a few films that were shown before the lockdown came at the beginning of November. “For example the ‘kangaroo chronicles’,” says Dittmer.

Family films, children’s films and comedies are now popular to offer the tourists on the coast a little variety and to liven up the cinema. From June 24th, the Neustadt cinema center (there are three halls with 60, 80 and 150 seats) will include the Warner film “Cats & Dogs” in its program, with “Godzilla vs. Kong” to follow on July 1st. “We start with one performance during the day, we make further presentations depending on the weather,” explains Oliver Dittmer and adds: “It’s nice to be able to open again. That gives everyone involved back a bit of normality. “
