In May the really big canvases will finally be rolled out again. However, you still have to wait for the blockbusters.
From May 19, the long-awaited easing will finally come into force. That also means: cinemas open again. But only with very strict restrictions. As everywhere, a test is required, halls must not be fully occupied and the mask is a must. Whether you can nibble on popcorn is currently still being discussed.
Open outdoor cinemas
Anyone looking forward to the big Hollywood blockbusters will be bitterly disappointed. Because the multiplex cinemas remain closed. The reasons for this are quickly provided: “Big US blockbusters can only be started if the market is completely available,” said Cineplexx boss Christof Papousek to the “Standard”. It takes a certain amount of products before operations can be resumed. There is no exact date for this.
Smaller art house cinemas such as the votive cinema, on the other hand, are more optimistic. There will soon be betting on indie films such as “Miss Marx” or the Khashoggi documentary “TheDissident”. Open-air cinemas are also ready to open. Classics such as Charlie Chaplin’s “The Great Dictator” or domestic productions are shown.
