RED. The next cinema weekend at the Goli Theater has an exciting animated film from Brazil in store. In the evening performances there is an extraordinary comedy with and about a group of people with disabilities – but is it even allowed to laugh about disabilities?
For Victor Artus Solaro, filmmaker, comedian and patron of the Paralympic Games and Handicap International, it was clear from the start: “I didn’t want to make a pathetic film for non-disabled people about people with disabilities in order to remind people that there are disabled people. I wanted to capture and shoot real moments with these people with all their individual whimsy and wonderful humor. And if it were just this one film that I would make in my life.” It is humor that overcomes the barriers between people with and without disabilities and allows people to laugh together. And if you can laugh at each other, inclusion is really possible. So it’s Saturday, November 2nd and Sunday, November 3rd – at 8 p.m. “What’s normal?” (France 2024, 99 minutes, FSK: six years). After a robbery, Paulo (Artus) and his father (Clovis Cornillac) flee from the police and find shelter in a coach that is supposed to take young adults with disabilities to their vacation spot in the mountains. Paulo and his father quickly pretend to be the missing fellow traveler Sylvain and his carer – an almost perfect disguise. The escape from the police begins an extraordinary adventure that presents everyone involved with unexpected challenges – lots of fun, new friendships and a lot of heart included. Entry costs six euros and doors open from 7 p.m.
“The Secret of the Perlimps” (Brazil 2022, 75 minutes, recommended age: from nine years) is on the program on Saturday, November 2nd and Sunday, November 3rd, at 3 p.m. Claé and Bruó work as secret agents for two feuding kingdoms. When they are both sent on a mission to the enchanted forest, they notice that it is threatened by terrible giants. In the middle of the enchanted thicket between crumbling ruins and floating rocky deserts, they are forced to leave their conflicts behind them. Because only together can they find the Perlimps – mysterious creatures who know a way to peace. Entry costs four euros, entry from 2:30 p.m. Photo: private
