The Vilnius city film festival “Kino pavasaris”, which filled cinemas with spectators for two weeks and caused many people to worry about missing something important, has good news: the most watched films of the festival not only stay in the big cities for a short time, but also expand the geography. From today, the most popular films of the festival are shown in the repertoires of cinemas in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Ukmergė, Gargžda, Utena, Varėna, Tauragė, Šilutė, Anykščiai, Pasvali, Visaginas and Vilkaviškis.

“This year, we heard especially often that the “Kino pavasaris” program will contain more than ever films that are important not to miss – we felt this throughout the festival, seeing how many spectators gather in cinema halls and how intensively they discuss after one or another screenings live or in the social space , – says Konradas Kazlauskas, executive director of “Kino pavasaris”. – However, as always, the days of the festival pass too quickly, the agenda of each spectator is laid out very carefully and it is natural that there is not enough time to see everything. Therefore, the audience’s favorite films will remain in the repertoire of cinemas for some time – it is true, there should not be a long delay, as the number of screenings will be limited.”

In total, 15 of the most popular films of the festival remain in the extension, including one of the most titled, the court drama by director Justine Triet “Anatomy of Cross” (Anatomy of a Fall). For a while, the audience will also be able to see the films of two Asian cinema masters in cinema halls: the new drama of the festival audience’s favorite, the director of Thieves, Hirokazu Kore-eda “monster” (Monster) and a film by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ryûsuke Hamaguchi “Evil (doesn’t) exist” (Evil Does Not Exist).

One of the films that can still be seen on the big screens is Luna Carmoon’s debut, which won a lot of audience sympathy at the festival. “Beach” (Hoard), telling a compelling story of loneliness and sexuality.

The film of cinematographer Agnieszka Holland, which caused a huge stir in Poland, remains in the repertoire “Green Wall” (Green Border), Italian film great Marco Bellocchio’s tale of faith, loss and family “Holy Rapture” (Kidnapped) and M. Garrone’s drama, which was nominated for an Oscar and won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival “I’m the captain here” (I am Captain).

Those who didn’t make it will still have the opportunity to see the latest work of the French director Xavier Legrand “heir” (The Successor), director Ira Sachs’ tumultuous journey of love, loss and inner discovery “Labyrinths” (Passages) and debut director Molly Manning Walker’s film „How to Have Sex“ (How to Have Sex).

Fans of comedies and lighter content can look forward to a new work from the director of one of the most popular “Cinema Spring” movies of all time, “The Untouchables”. “It’s been a tough year” (A Difficult Year) and a comedy by Argentinian director Rodrigo Moreno delinquents (The Delinquents).
