Soon it’s time! After more than three decades, the people of Versmold can once again experience cinema in their own city.
“We are very pleased about the cooperation with the cinema professional Johannes Austermann,” emphasizes Mayor Michael Meyer-Hermann.
Tickets are already available at www.kulturbuehne-versmold.de be bought, because next Thursday, October 17th and Friday, October 18th, the first films such as “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, “Magic of the Animals 3” and “Irony of Life” will be released.
Johannes Austermann, owner of the well-known Warendorf cinema “Scala”, takes over the Versmold cultural stage, whose name is retained at Austermann’s request. “The cultural stage is a real gem,” says Johannes Austermann, particularly emphasizing the new screen and the comfortable, rustic cinema seats.
Austermann particularly praises the extremely good discussions with the city of Versmold. Only then did the ball really get rolling. Both Mayor Michael Meyer-Hermann and department head Jan Darnauer speak of an almost optimal solution that has already significantly exceeded original expectations.
A technical impasse was overcome. Thanks to the operator’s investment in converting the existing projector for the open-air cinema and a specially made projection room box, current cinema highlights can now also flicker across the screen.
Already at the first press event, ideas started flowing out of the Warendorfer. In addition to current films, he can also imagine a cinema café and school screenings.
The only difficulty the Scala owner has is finding personnel. “I still need a permanent staff for the location in the school district so that films can be shown on several days,” says Austermann.
Nevertheless, he is extremely positive about the coming period and is confident that the cinema operation will be a complete success. He does not see the cultural stage as competition to the Scala in Warendorf, but rather as a complement and enrichment. Vouchers can be redeemed at both locations. The cinema is initially planned for one year, during which the city of Versmold supports the operator by providing the premises free of charge.
The box office opens 30 minutes before the film starts.
