MORELIA. The American actor Willem Dafoe considered tonight that cinema is in Mexican blood.
The star of the films “Platoon,” “Spider-Man” and “The Last Temptation of Christ” received the Artistic Excellence award from the Morelia International Film Festival this Sunday night, before a room full of fans. .

“The selection of films in this festival is great, what cinema needs to stay healthy is festivals like this,” he said when receiving it.
“Cinema is in the blood of the people of Mexico, it is wonderful to see these theaters completely full,” he added.
The sculpture is a work by Javier Marín and is only given to those people with an outstanding career in the world of cinema.

Dafoe, 67 years old, is an old acquaintance of the contest held in the Mexican capital, this being his third time in it. In 2016 he took advantage of his stay for a trip to Patzcuaro where he made his own tortillas.
And professionally he filmed in Real de Catorce, San Luis Potosí, the title “Opus Zero” where he played a man looking to find something of himself.
“I love being in Mexico, I have come here, I have worked here and I love the hospitality of this festival and the people,” he indicated.
