With a cinema flat rate, cineastes will have unlimited access to 18 arthouse cinemas in Vienna and five other federal states. The “nonstop cinema subscription” is now available from March 9th, advance sales start on February 15th. The Burg Kino, Filmcasino and Gartenbaukino in Vienna, the Kino im Kesselhaus Krems, the Moviemento in Linz, the KIZ RoyalKino in Graz, the Das Kino in Salzburg and the Leokino in Innsbruck will all take part. An extension is planned.
The monthly subscription should cost 24 euros or 22 euros for under-26s. The proceeds go directly to the cinemas, it said in a broadcast, the cinemas had created a “system of collaboration and mutual support”. “The idea of such a cooperation between the cinemas, which leads to a strong identification with art house cinemas and high membership numbers, was unique for me,” says Wiktoria Pelzer, the nonstop initiator and managing director of the Wiener Stadtkino.
Inspiration was provided by the Dutch subscription model “Cineville”, which is also to be launched in Germany in the course of the year. There they want to learn from the Austrian experience. (apa)
