The character of “Cindy the director” conquered Mexicans with the film that came out in 2020, today a series of this peculiar protagonist arrives on platforms that will tell about her adolescence, so it is not linked to the film and above all, it narrates more of her life in her hometown, San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey.
The story is written by José Miguel Núñez, Hipatia Argüero, Anna Grajales and Paola Mazlum, narrating the current point of view of this stage of their life, so they did field research, visiting high schools, clubs and the places where young people gather at this stage of their life in said city.
“You will find things that seem cliché, but they are true and I think it was about finding a balance, because it is a fun comedy that portrays reality and it is also good to see what happens there. Sometimes, it seems like a meme or something exaggerated, but it does happen, there will be many cousin jokes, but everything is investigated,” said Núñez, the Head Writer of the series.
For José Miguel it is also important to show a different history, inhabited in another part of the country, to get away from the projects that are only recorded in the three main neighborhoods of Mexico City, “it is essential to understand that they are also doing interesting things outside here”.
“Cindy la regia: La serie” stars Michelle Pellicer, Luciana Vale and Anxel García, and follows “Cindy”, a popular teenager who, after a cyber attack, her life is no longer what it used to be, so she will have to consider how to move forward and who to trust.
Creating the script was not easy, especially taking into account the success of the film, which weighs on the scriptwriters. However, for Núñez it was essential to have the support of her colleagues, who were able to give different female points of view to create the project. .
“It is a very feminine series, not only because of the protagonist. The idea was to present an honest and current teenager, and many times my role was to remain silent, listen and learn, because as a man you have other visions, no matter how open you are, it is not the same to tell a story about women,” added the screenwriter.
In addition, they also had several young advisors who helped them with the language that now dominates among young people, as well as some particular attitudes of the region and others derived from social networks.
“Our Cindy does not leave the city, she enters high school and tells the adventures of a girl in this contemporary San Pedro who faces problems of people her age, such as sexting, bullying and the high social expectations that exist. about youth,” he concluded.
