A tough gang called the Peaky Blinders try to always be a few steps ahead of the competition. His dark stories are fictional, but inspired by a real criminal organization that operated in Birmingham in the early 19th and early 20th centuries. The series was published between 2013 and 2022 and won several awards during its run.

Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Stephen Graham (The Irishman), Helen McCrory (Skyfall), Adrien Brody (The Piano), Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa) or Annabelle Wallis (King Arthur: The Legend of about the sword) . Their favorite characters were often the troubled brother of the main character Arthur Shelby, played by Paul Anderson, or the charismatic Alfie Solomons played by Tom Hardy.

The series also became famous thanks to its brilliant camera and soundtrack, which featured artists such as The White Stripes, Johnny Cash, Arctic Monkeys, Sinéad O’Connor and especially Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

It also gave rise to several famous expressions that appeared in the series as echoes of the main characters. The iconic Thomas Shelby, along with his family and business partners, was right under the skin of viewers around the world, which is estimated to be around eighty percent on the series’ databases. Now it has been officially confirmed that the filming of the feature film, which should bring the story of the Shelby family to an end, has already begun slowly. In terms of story, the film should follow the events of the sixth series. Apparently, however, with a time gap.

Creator Steven Knight has said that the plot will be set during World War II. But we can also look forward to the typical atmosphere of Birmingham itself, the passions, tensions and unexpected traps that are typical for the heroes in retro films.

It is confirmed that Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) will again play the charismatic director Thomas Shelby, without which it would not make sense. Other actors from the series have not been confirmed yet. The new faces are Rebecca Ferguson (Silo), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Jay Lycurgo (Titans) and Tim Roth (The Horrible Eight).

The screenplay for the film was written by the creator of the series, Steven Knight, who is also producing it along with Patrick Holland, Guy Heeley and Cillian Murphy. The direction was taken by Tom Harper, who had already directed selected episodes of the series.

“There is great anticipation and excitement among our cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us this far, and we think this next chapter will deliver something amazing,” said Tom Harper on the shoot.

The upcoming film may be called The Immortal Man, referring to the events of the previous series, but that could change.

Of course, the date of the first appearance is still a question mark. If everything goes according to plan, the film could be shown as early as the end of 2025, in selected cinemas and then on Netflix, under whose wings the film is being made in collaboration with BBC Film. Thanks to the format of the film, it could certainly appeal to new viewers, for whom the addictive gangster saga has been hidden until now.
