CILEGON, SSC – Cilegon City Health Office (Dinkes) has prepared 60 doses of anti-rabies vaccine for residents of Cilegon City to anticipate victims who die from bites of animals carrying rabies.
Head of the Cilegon City Health Service (Dinkes), Ratih Purnamasari said, in 2023, as many as 19 people became victims of animal bites.
This number is in Jombang District 1 person, Cibeber District 8 people, Ciwandan District 4 people, Pulomerak District 3 people, Cilegon District 2 people, Citangkil District 1 person.
While in 2022, there are 28 people who have been bitten by animals. Jombang District 2 people, Grogol District 2 people, Cibeber District 2 people, Citangkil 1 District 3 people, Citangkil 2 District 3 people, Ciwandan District 5 people, Pulomerak District 9 people, Purwakart District 2 people, Cilegon District 1 person and Cilegon District there is 1 person.
“The victim who was bitten by this, was immediately given an anti-rabies vaccine which was already in the puskesmas in Cilegon City,” Ratih told Selatsunda.com, Thursday (6/7/2023).
In line with Ratih, Head of Fulfillment of Individual Health Efforts and Public Health Efforts Febri Naldo explained that the 60 doses of vaccine prepared by the Cilegon City Health Office were distributed to every health center. Ciwandan Health Center received 26 vials of vaccine, Cibeber Health Center received 15 vials, Citangkil Health Center received 20 vials of vaccine, Cilegon Health Center received 20 vials of vaccine, Grogol Health Center received 14 vials of vaccine.
Furthermore, Purwakarta Health Center received 20 vials of vaccine, Jombang Health Center received 6 vials of vaccine, Citangkil 2 Health Center received 20 vials of vaccine, Pulmerak Health Center received 22 vials.
“So those who were bitten by these animals were not all dogs. But there are also cats, monkeys and other animals. The victims who were bitten were not only children. But there are adults and old people,” he continued.
Febri admitted that there were no fatalities from the bites of rabid dogs. However, for prevention reasons, the Cilegon Health Office will continue to provide education regarding rabies-transmitting animals (HPR).
“Hopefully there are no fatalities (rabies),” he concluded. (Ully/Red)
