KPK currently investigating the alleged case corruption related to regulation of excisable goods in the Bintan Free Trade and Free Port area in the Tanjung Pinang City area, Riau Archipelago Province. The KPK revealed that state losses in this case reached more than Rp. 250 billion.

“For the excise tax earlier, if we talk about hundreds of billions in state financial losses. I think more than Rp. 250 billion and above,” said Head of KPK Reporting Unit Ali Fikri at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Monday (27/3/2023) .

However, Ali has not provided further details regarding who the suspects are in this case. His party is still exploring fictitious determination and calculations in the regulation of excisable goods.

“Later we will investigate the issue whether it is also related to customs, because this is related to revenue that should go to the country, it turns out that there are fictitious and other things related to the excise,” he said.

KPK Investigate Cigarette Excise Corruption

The KPK has started a new investigation into a case of alleged corruption in the regulation of excisable goods in the Bintan Free Trade and Free Port area in Tanjung Pinang City, Riau Archipelago Province. There are already suspects in the case.

“KPK has started a new investigation regarding allegations of corruption in the regulation of excisable goods in the Free Trade Zone and Free Port of Bintan in the Tanjung Pinang City area, Riau Islands Province,” said Ali.

Ali said the case was related to fictitious determination and calculations in the regulation of excisable goods in the form of cigarette quotas. This allegedly resulted in state financial losses in terms of excise, value added tax and regional taxes reaching hundreds of billions of rupiah.

“In the regulation of excisable goods in the form of cigarette quotas, it is suspected that there was a fictitious determination and calculation that resulted in state financial losses in terms of excise revenue, value added tax and regional taxes reaching hundreds of billions of rupiah,” said Ali.

The KPK, according to Ali, has conducted searches at several locations. The KPK immediately revealed the identity of the suspect in this case.

“The investigative team is currently collecting evidence, including summoning various parties as witnesses, including a search agenda at several related locations,” said Ali.

“If we consider that the collection of evidence has been sufficient, then we will convey the identity of the party designated as the suspect, the construction of the alleged criminal act and the article being charged,” he added.
