Cigarette Butt Triggers Evacuation of 172 Children at Château de Pouilly Primary School in Dijon

More fear than harm. Firefighters from the Côte d’Or Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 21) intervened on Monday January 8 around 4:30 p.m. Château de Pouilly primary school in Dijon. 172 children evacuated

The 19 firefighters mobilized noticed that a cigarette butt was stuck in a ventilation grille and caused smoke. A strong burning smell was also felt in the premises.

In total, 188 people including 172 children, had to leave the establishment while the checks were carried out. “The children were gradually picked up by their parents,” the firefighters said. The Sdis intervention mobilized two fire vans, an ambulance and two command vehicles.
