The prosecutor’s office and social services in Kardzhali are investigating a case of an abused child. Photos and video of the 6-year-old boy were uploaded by his father on social networks. They show facial injuries that look like cigarette burns.
“The presence of 4 injuries in the area of the face, which represent local burns, was established. It is probably a matter of cigarette burns”, explained the deputy district prosecutor of Kardzhali, Petya Chotrova.
A search was carried out at the family’s residence, with the seizure of butts found throughout the home. Numerous witnesses were also questioned, and a forensic medical examination was appointed.
“A forensic psychiatric examination will be appointed in view of the data that the mother suffers from moderate mental retardation, which was established by a decision of the TELK”, specified Chotrova.
The family has three children, who are currently out. “There is a procedure in place to assess the risk and take action on their return.” However, the parental capacity must be evaluated as positive”, explained the director of “Social support” – Kardzhali, Katya Dimitrova.
