Cibitung Cilincing Toll Road Collapsed, Project Closed Totally

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia One of the constructions at the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road Section IV, North Jakarta collapsed. The government finally took action on the incident that occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Danang Parikesit, admitted that he had already reviewed the project location. He emphasized that this project was temporarily suspended starting Tuesday (18/8/20).

“This morning BPJT asked for a temporary suspension of construction at sites and those with similar construction methods until there is a technical recommendation from the K2 (Construction Safety) Committee,” said Danang Parikesit to CNBC Indonesia when confirmed, Tuesday (18/8/20).


In addition, he also asked all parties involved in this project to conduct an evaluation. In fact, he also said that there should be a field team farming in the project.

“We also provide instructions for evaluation of internal work processes, and up to replacement of field teams for implementation contractors and supervisory consultants as well as quality monitoring consultants,” he said.

As for the cause of this incident, his party still cannot provide complete information. However, from the monitoring at the location, there are initial allegations that are now being investigated further regarding the cause of the collapse of this project construction.

“The initial indication of the results of last night’s visit was that the girder scaffolding system was unable to support the load during casting. We will review it again by asking the Directorate General of Highways and the K2 PUPR Committee to provide technical recommendations,” he said.
