Cibeles de Cine, one of the benchmark summer cinemas for Madrid residents, will celebrate its eighth edition from June 29 to September 14 at the Galería de Cristal in CentroCentro, a space of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Madrid City Council, after bringing together more than 25,000 spectators in its last edition of 2022.
The poster for this edition, by the artist Octavio Terol, is a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the unforgettable romantic comedy Holidays in Rome (1953), directed by William Wyler with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. The edition will open with another great classic, Casablanca (1942), the iconic romantic drama directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman and winner of the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay.
During its 11-week duration, this event will offer a careful program made up of more than 70 films, among which are great classics, cult titles, films for the whole family, independent and auteur films, as well as the latest hits from the season.
As a novelty, the tribute to Warner Bros. Pictures stands out coinciding with its 100th anniversary. To celebrate it, Cibeles de Cine will screen a cycle where every week the cinematographic history of the mythical Hollywood studio will be reviewed with essential films such as its own Casablanca, Singing under the rain, rebel without a cause, with death on his heels, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Gremlins, The Exorcist, Bitelchús o Los Goonies. In addition, this year the artistic exhibition that complements the movie billboard will also revolve around the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros thanks to the images provided by the studio’s graphic archive.
Numerous national and international seasonal hits
Within the billboard they stand out from the great successes of the season (Babylon, Asteroid City, The Fabelmans, Mission Impossible: Deadly Judgment, Barbie u Oppenheimer) to the best independent and auteur cinema (The triangle of sadness, After sun, The whale, Decision to leave, the eight mountains, my crime, Warehouse o Living), going through cult cinema from the 80s and 90s (Dirty Dancing, the big lebowski), and sessions of national titles (the beasts, Model 77, 20,000 species of bees, siege o Ramona). The sessions of some of these films will have the presence of their technical and artistic team. In addition, Saturdays will be the day for the whole family with movies like Indiana Jones and the dial of fate, The little Mermaid, Elemental and the already classic The engaged princess o Inside of the labyrinth.

Tinto (25th anniversary).
Cinetronik, silent cinema with a live show, and other cycles
Another novelty will be the Cinetronik sessions, where silent films are combined with a live electronic music soundtrack. The films that can be seen in this avant-garde format will be: The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari with a live show by Caliza, the fly man (100th anniversary) with a live show by Meneo, and Nanook the Eskimo with Alex Aller.
In addition, every Wednesday the Cycle will be held SensaCinema Presentsprojections that will have the presence of the influential film critic Alejandro G. Calvo, who will present great classics such as the 400 hits o The Big Lebowski current movies like Banshees by Inisherin u Oppenheimer. On the other hand, EL PAÍS joins with a careful selection of films that can be seen in Film session EL PAÍS.
TCM joins the proposal by sponsoring weekly the TCM Nightswith great classic titles like Holidays in Rome, Eight and a half, the bike thief o The hit, among others. And Glamor magazine participates with the initiative Sala Glamoura program of films with a strong female component and discussions prior to the screening.
Cibeles de Cine will open its doors on June 29 until September 14. For 11 uninterrupted weeks (except for July 1, when it will remain closed), its opening hours will be from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 p.m. The screenings will start at 10:00 p.m. From 8:00 p.m. until the start of the screening, attendees will be able to enjoy the restaurant area, the exhibition and specific thematic events.
The seating area is made up of 650 chairs with cushions. The image is in high definition and the films are listened to through wireless headphones that guarantee the immersion and quality of the experience during the projection.
The price of general admission to this summer cinema, organized by CentroCentro and the mk2 company, is six euros at the box office and seven euros online, and there is also the option of combined tickets.
