Didik explained that Indonesia already had regulatory tools regarding the mechanisms for implementing disaster management and humanitarian assistance disasters, even from abroad. According to BNPB Head Regulation Number 6 of 2018, he said, the mechanism for entry of international assistance begins with an official government statement to accept the offer of assistance.

In addition, Didik said that BNPB will send a circular letter to international organizations containing a brief report on the disaster incident, the time frame for emergency response, the urgent need for logistics or equipment, up to the need for professional personnel. .

“Indeed, if the assistance is in the form of cash, it must be sent directly to BNPB via a special account,” he said.

Didik said the use of international assistance should be managed and integrated through the command system for disaster relief. In this case, he said, BNPB has the authority to coordinate assistance with ministries and related agencies at the PDB National Assistance Post or the PDB National Command Post.
