Cian Uijtdebroeks rode a good time trial for his part. The young Belgian lost two minutes and 55 seconds to Tadej Pogacar, but limited the damage compared to other competitors. “It was a good day,” Uijtdebroeks said Eurosport.

“I was a bit afraid of the time trial beforehand. Especially because there was such a long flat section at the beginning of the time trial. In the past that was something where I lost a lot of time,” said the Visma | rider Lease a Bike. “I am happy with the time trial I rode. I was able to limit the damage.”
Uijtdebroeks drops to seventh place in the general classification after the time trial. “But the difference between the top 3 and top 5 is not that big. So it was a good day. It doesn’t matter that I lost the white jersey. Luke Plapp (the new leader in the youth classification, ed.) is in principle not someone who is very good in the high mountains.”
