119 square meters of ground for a room temperature of 20 degrees: The parish church of St. Josef needs a new heat source, the old oil heating has to be replaced. The community, in turn, needs an adjacent plot of land for the expansion of the neighboring fire station.
Mayor Johann Habersatter from the “List Habersatter” (LH) has reached a deal with the Salzburg Diocesan Finance Chamber.
“The reason from the church, the warmth from the community”
“For my location, I see this as a successful collaboration between the congregation and the church. The congregation needs a few square meters of ground for another fire department garage, which is necessary. So during the negotiations, the thought occurred to me that the fire department and the church would be included a common heating system.
So one could say: The reason comes from the church, the warmth comes from the community. And in small towns you lose so much anyway – but I don’t want to lose the church, “because otherwise we are no longer a real community,” says Habersatter.
Church pays 131,000 euros for pellet heating system
The church pays 131,000 euros for the new pellet heating system, the municipality of Untertauern in turn grants a subsidy of 20,000 euros and will assume the heating costs in the future.
The fire brigade, school and kindergarten are also supplied with heat with the new heating. Construction will start in spring and will be completed in summer 2021.
