Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that the Holy See’s diplomacy is not related to the state, but to international law, which has no political, economic and military interests.
He said this in an interview granted to the Italian geopolitical magazine “Limes”.
Cardinal Parolin also stated that this diplomacy stands at the service of the Pope, Bishop of Rome and Shepherd of the Ecumenical Church.
Referring to the existence of an atmosphere of fragmented wars, he said in this interview that the Church follows her Lord and believes in peace, strives for the establishment of peace, fights for it and tries to bear witness to peace, and said that the Church is a desirous of peace. He also mentioned the excessive use of weapons and clarified that weapons should not be misused under the guise of the right of self-defense.
