Church gathering common denominator for cases of infection in several Trøndelag municipalities

County doctor Jan Vaage in Trøndelag said earlier Tuesday that a religious gathering seemed to be the common denominator for cases of infection in several Trøndelag municipalities.

Melhus mayor Jorid Jagtøyen (Sp) confirms to Address that it is about a gathering in Melhus church on 8 May.

– It seems that several dozen people were infected in connection with that gathering on May 8, says the chief physician in Melhus, Aslak Jaryd Johansen to the newspaper.

At the same time, the municipal chief in Orkland confirms that all ten infected in an outbreak where around the weekend of 17 May can be traced back to the gathering in Melhus. In Melhus itself, seven to eight cases are linked to the collection.

It is unclear how many people were present in the church, but according to the church trustee in Melhus, it must have been well below 100 – the maximum ceiling for indoor events with fixed seating.
