Woman Held With Powdered Gold: On Tuesday, about 368 grams of gold was seized from the possession of a 38-year-old female beautician who reached Indore from Sharjah in UAE via Air India Express flight. An official of the Customs Department gave this information. The officer said that the woman had brought this foreign gold worth Rs 20.20 lakh by hiding it in the form of powder in her clothes in a very clever way. He said that on the information of the informer, an intelligence squad of the Customs Department searched the woman who reached Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport here by Air India Express flight number AXB 256.
According to the officer, during the search it was found that the woman, resident of Delhi, had hidden the gold sprinkled in the form of powder in the ‘leggings’ she wore during the international trip. He told that this consignment of foreign gold brought through smuggling was hidden in ‘leggings’ by sewing it between layers of cloth. According to the officer, during interrogation the woman told that she was a beautician and had brought foreign gold to India for her financial gain. Officials said that gold has been seized from the woman under the Customs Act 1962.
He said that the accused has not been arrested yet and further legal steps are being taken. This is not the first time that a woman has been caught bringing gold illegally. Even before this, many such cases have come to light, in which women have been caught hiding gold from abroad in their clothes and other belongings. In many cases, people have been caught making gold capsules and hiding them in body parts. Most of the accused who do this bring gold from UAE. Such incidents are continuously increasing.
