Goesan Hudam Garden is a former Hiwell Condominium that has been abandoned for about 10 years to support Chungcheongbuk-do’s ‘local extinction response and crisis overcoming policy project’ as part of the construction plan to respond to the local extinction crisis in Goesan-gun, which has the highest local extinction risk index in North Chungcheong Province. (currently Hudam Garden) was purchased and upcycling construction began last April.
This upcycling project transformed the building into a relaxation space that can accommodate 150 people, with 3 buildings (Mulbit Building/Sunlight Building/Healing Building), 2 seminar rooms, and room 35 through complete renovation.
Hudam Garden is connected to Yeonpung Station on the Central Inland Line, which is scheduled to open in November, Suanbo in Chungju, Fisheries Park in Goesan, Sanmagi-gil, and Hwayang-dong Valley, and offers △ long-term rental for return to farming villages, △ living in rural areas, △ urban farmers, △ K-foreign worker accommodation, △ It is planned to be reborn as a complex cultural healing space with various relaxation functions, including a place for training for related organizations.
In addition, following the completion ceremony, the ‘Chungcheongbuk-do Lake Park Renaissance Public-Private Committee All Members Workshop’ was held as the first start of Hudam Garden.
On this day, Chungcheongbuk-do Governor Kim Young-hwan emphasized, “In the era of low birth rates and regional extinction, we plan to take the lead in creating prosperous rural areas and balanced regional development by revitalizing abandoned and neglected idle resources. This is the direction that not only Chungcheongbuk-do but also the Republic of Korea should move in.”
Meanwhile, Jin Sang-hwa, president of the Chungbuk Development Corporation, said, “We hope that this Huedam Garden upcycling project will become a new tourist attraction in Goesan-gun as an empirical example of the Chungbuk Lake Park Renaissance, and the corporation will faithfully fulfill its responsibility as a public enterprise for the residents of the province to actively participate in overcoming the crisis of regional extinction. “We will implement it,” he said.
