At CHU de Caen (Calvados), Friday is a privileged day for mobilization. Since January 7, 2022, healthcare personnel, members of the Collectif Inter-Hôpitaux (CIH), have been meeting that day for “a minute of silence” in defense of the public hospital at 2 p.m.
reception blocked
This Friday, February 18, 2022, two majority unions, FO and Unsa, launched a new movement of indefinite strike to emergencies. From 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., staff representatives begin by “blocking the reception of pediatric emergencies a little”, advances Philippe Pouchin, FO secretary at the Caen University Hospital. “We filter the entries. A “symbolic” action in favor of administrative agents. “The first to receive the public, the patients at the hospital. »
The management of the CHU “blocked”
For him, “it’s a movement that dates”, and that the unions are relaunching for the 3e times. The unions want in this way “to obtain a new appointment with the administration of the CHU”. According to them, the management of the CHU is deaf to the crucial need for replacement staff. Philippe Poussin assures us:
When we talk about additional staff, it is blocked within the administration.
An end of inadmissibility still wiped “at the beginning of the week” at the end of the meeting with the deputy general manager.
Two positions requested
According to FO, the emergencies of the CHU of Caen rotate with 18 administrative agents on the two sectors of day and night. Between sick leave and suspensions for positive Covid-19 cases, this category of staff is under constant pressure.
“We are having a lot of trouble recruiting,” confirms Philippe Pouchin. However, the FO and Unsa unions are asking the management of the CHU de Caen to create two reception staff positions, “one day and one night. »
