A woman with the initials NN (28) did polyandry or have two husbands who were expelled by residents from Sodong Hilir Village, Tanjungsari Village, Sukaluyu District, Cianjur Regency a few days ago.
The expulsion and burning of NN’s clothes also went viral on social media. In the 27-second video, residents can see burning clothes, then expel NN and her family from the village.
Tanjungsari Village community leader Aep Ibing (60) said that NN, who is still the wife of TS (49) secretly married UA (32), a resident of Babakancaringin Village, Karangtengah, Cianjur Regency.
“NN’s serial marriage with UA was carried out without the knowledge of her husband, even though she and TS are still bound in a legal marriage,” said Aep, quoted from detik.comTuesday (17/5).
The woman is known to have married her second husband in Babakancaringin Village in December 2021. They involved a local cleric.
However, the case of NN’s polyandry was only uncovered on May 10, 2022. A family member of TS investigated the issue of marriage between NN and another man.
According to Aep, with the discovery of this polyandry, TS then declared divorce and handed down talaq 3 to NN.
“Residents who are sympathetic to TS and upset about the polyandry act, they flock to their parents’ house and kick NN and her family out of the village,” he said.
NN and her family left their house in Tanjungsari Village, Sukaluyu District on Friday 15 May.
Aep added that NN used a number of tricks to get married a second time. According to him, NN made a lie so that UA would marry her.
In a deliberation, said Aep, NN said her parents had died and admitted that she had been widowed or divorced for two years with her first husband, TS.
“So he made a number of lies, which were revealed from his second husband. He said his parents were dead, even though they were still alive. He claimed to be divorced, even though he is still a legal wife and has a family with TS, her first husband,” he said.
The case of this polyandry woman or husband of two has also received attention from the Cianjur Regency Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Chairman of the MUI Cianjur Abdul Rauf said in Islamic teachings, polyandry behavior or women who marry more than one man is forbidden.
“That’s forbidden in religion, it’s illegal. Women can’t marry two men,” Rauf said.
