F, a student of Sriwijaya University (Unsri) South Sumatra was inflamed. Wearing a cloth and kebaya complete with a closed hijab, the woman came forward to the front of the podium and engaged in a little bit of chit-chat with the people on the podium. It was later discovered that the incident occurred in the middle of the Unsri Yudisium event.
The woman’s angry actions were recorded and spread in a number of media, one of which was the Palembang Information account on Twitter. Because the woman was angry, because her name was omitted unilaterally by the Unsri dean from the list of judicial participants.
The student, who is known to be from the Unsri Faculty of Economics, is suspected of being one of the victims of sexual harassment by her lecturer who reported to the South Sumatra Police.
Unsri Student President, Dwiki Sandi, during the Yudisium event said that F was actually present. However, his name was never called. He then went berserk and questioned the reason for the cancellation to the dean.

After the incident took place, the dean finally included F as one of the judicial participants in the second batch which was held on the same day in the afternoon. Even though F should have been included in the first wave of judiciary.
F’s re-entry into the list of students participating in the judiciary was obtained from a sudden meeting held by the dean and a representative of the rectorate after the angry incident in the morning had already spread widely.
There has been no official statement from Unsri regarding the incident. Until now, the Unsri Student Press is still asking for clarification from the dean and rectorate.
Calling Victims of Harassment
In addition to the incident F which was crossed out of the judiciary list, a letter was also circulated calling the dean of the female students who were victims of sexual harassment by the lecturers. In the letter, the dean referred to the student as “a student of the Faculty of Economics, Sriwijaya University, a victim of alleged harassment”. The letter aims to ask for clarification from the victim.
However, in the letter, the dean required the victim to come in person. Submission of clarification is also carried out in a closed room. The Dean of FE Unsri argued that this was done because the initial clarification was not public.
In addition, in the same letter, the dean of FE Unsri also asked the student victim of sexual harassment by her lecturer to attend. Because if not, with sentences that seem threatening, it will have an impact on delaying the completion of the reported cases and other problems in the victim’s capacity as a student of FE Unsri. The letter did not specify what the phrase “other problems” would mean if the victim were not present.
The perpetrator did not attend the police call
Ironically, if Unsri seemed to force the victim to provide clarification, A, one of the two lecturers who was suspected of having sexually harassed him, actually evaded the police summons. A could not attend because there was a family event. The police will also recall the person concerned on Monday (6/9/2021).
For information, there are two reported cases of sexual harassment at Unsri. There were three victims. In addition to F and C who were suspected of being harassed by one of the lecturers, there was also DR who was suspected of being harassed by the lecturer with the initials A.
DR allegedly received harassment when asking for a thesis signature. Meanwhile, F and C were sexually harassed through the WhatsApp chat application.
