Chronology of Thousands of KB Bukopin Employees Many ‘Resign’

1,400 employee PT Bank KB Bukopin Tbk resigned (resign) as of last December 2021. That amount is equivalent to 30 percent of the company’s total employees.

The resignation cannot be separated from the transformation carried out by management after PT Bank Bukopin was taken over by Kookmin Bank in 2020.

Kookmin Bank became the controlling shareholder of PT Bank Bukopin Tbk after increasing its ownership portion from 21.99 percent to 67 percent.

Before Kookmin Bank became the controlling shareholder, the majority of Bank Bukopin’s shares were held by the public at 45.69 percent. Then, PT Bosowa Corporindo at 23.39 percent and the state at 8.91 percent.

After being taken over by Kookmin Bank, the company changed its name to KB Bukopin as of February 23, 2021. Not only that, the management also carried out transformations in a number of lines, including human resources (HR).

KB Bukopin Corporate Communication Tyas Hardi explained that the cuts were in line with the core banking transformation vision, one of which includes technology towards the New Generation Banking System (NGBS).

One of the programs to smooth HR transformation is early retirement. Under the program, the company offers employees to retire or resign with a number of incentives.

He claimed that employees who voluntarily resigned received severance pay in excess of the rules set by the government.

In addition, he guarantees that former employees and their families can still enjoy health insurance facilities for the next 6 months.

He added that the company also provides managerial skills training and other majors for employees who want to shift to other sectors.

“The company (indeed) carried out the program (resignation) voluntarily, there was no coercion, no direct appointment, open to all Bukopin employees,” he said when confirmed on Sunday (23/1) yesterday.
