The disbandment of the Jaran Kepang show in Medan Sunggal District, Medan city, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) by a group of members of the Islamic Community Forum (I WENT) Medan City, which ended in clashes. From the video that went viral, one FUI member spat on a resident who did not accept the dissolution.
Eka, a member of the Jaran Kepang Langen Budoyo Community, said the incident took place at Jalan Merak, Gg Merpati, Medan Sunggal Subdistrict on April 2, 2021 in the afternoon. Eka was there when the incident occurred.
At that time they were filling the show. Suddenly FUI Medan members dismissed their performance.
“We are different from the Jaran Kepang team. At that time I was there. My friend disbanded another team. Suddenly FUI members came to break up our show,” Eka told CNN Indonesia, Thursday (8/4).
Eka said that at the time of the incident, a number of Medan FUI members came together with the Head of the Environment (Kepling) and the TNI. “If I’m not mistaken, two or three people.”
He admitted that he did not know the reason for the Jaran Kepang show to be disbanded. Because so far their Jaran Kepang show has never been disbanded. During the show, said Eka, many residents came. The residents did not accept that the show was dismissed, so there was a clash.
“The Jaran Kepang team playing at that time was around 15 people. We played from 03.00 WIB in the afternoon. FUI came around 4.30 WIB in the afternoon. They came right away to disperse the show. I don’t know the reason. So when it was disbanded, the Jaran Kepang team was made aware first. , after that we returned to the studio, gathered, “he explained.
According to Eka, residents who did not accept the dismissal of the Jaran Kepang show were immediately involved in clashes with members of the Medan FUI. After that, the Jaran Kepang group immediately disbanded. He admitted that he was disappointed that their show was forcibly disbanded.
“They (FUI) made fuss with the residents, not with the Jaran Kepang team. So the residents did not accept the performance to be disbanded. If we returned to the studio,” he said.
After the incident, Eka admitted that he did not know where to perform the show.
“We also wonder why other people who created the crowd were not disbanded, but we were disbanded. We understand that if for example the Kepling says we can’t perform, they just suddenly bring a mass organization to dissolve the show,” he explained.
The disbandment of the Jaran Kepang show resulted in a viral fist fight on social media. In the video recording, FUI Medan members are seen wearing black clothes and red berets and lobe in the middle of disbanding Jaran Kepang.
One of the women who wore a green and black shirt did not accept the activity was dismissed. He said the Jaran Kepang show was usually held in the village. Moreover, they have asked permission to hold the show.
However, a member of the Medan FUI who was not happy about the answer came forward and spat on the woman. The residents were emotional. The commotion was inevitable, the residents were involved in scuffles with the members of the Islamic mass organization.
The chairman of the FUI of North Sumatra, Indra Suheri, when confirmed about the incident, did not give a response. “I’m Taklim again,” he said briefly, yesterday.
CNN Indonesia continued to try to contact Indra for complete information but was not responded to. Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Sr. Comr. Hadi Wahyudi, confirmed the incident.
