A man in Kediri died while concocting firecrackers or fireworks. The body of a man named Muhammad Nadhif (37), a resident of Sidomulyo Village, Wates District, was split open. Even his parents’ house, which was made for making firecrackers in Sumberejo hamlet, Tanjung village, Pagu district, was badly damaged and the glass shattered.
The incident happened at the moment the night of the last day of Ramadhan, Wednesday (12/5/2021). The victim previously bought firecrackers with three of his friends, Wildan Zamani, Ahmad Junaidi and Yunus. They are a joint venture to buy raw materials in the form of aluminum powder, brown powder, sulfuric acid or sulfur powder and potassium powder.
Kediri Police Chief AKBP Lukman Cahyono admitted that from the testimony of his parents, the victim made his own firecrackers in the living room. Meanwhile, his parents are outside the house, while his wife’s children are at the house in Sidomulyo Village.
“From the information of Nadhif’s parents, the victim at that time was making firecrackers in the living room of his parents’ house, after the evening prayer,” said the police chief when confirmed, Thursday (13/5/2021).
Just been reminded, explained the police chief, suddenly firecrackers exploded to kill the victim and destroy his house. Upon this incident the residents reported to the village apparatus and forwarded it to the Pagu Police.
“Nadhif’s parents had reminded him to stop making firecrackers first, because it was late. But just as he was reminded, suddenly firecrackers exploded and his child died,” he explained.
He added that every year the victim often makes firecrackers. And it will be lit during Eid. “The info of this victim has a tradition of making firecrackers to be played during Eid,” he said.
The police immediately took the victim’s body to Bhayangkara Hospital and finally buried it.
