Chronology of Indian Hindu Radical Group Destroys Jesus Statue

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Hindu right-wing radical group in India had committed various acts of violence when Christians in that country welcomed Natal This year.

Some of them are destroying the statue of Jesus and burning Santa Claus ornaments.

This right-wing Hindu group believes that Christians in India are using Christmas celebrations to convert Hindus there.

The day after Christmas, Sunday (26/12), the statue of Jesus was destroyed in the state of Haryana. Not only that, the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Ambala was also targeted by the group, quoted from The Guardian.

On the previous night, namely Christmas Eve, Friday (12/24), a celebration held at a school in Pataudi, Haryana was disturbed by right-wing groups of Indian Hindus. The group called the event an attempt to ‘brainwash’ the children to accept Christian values.

In addition to the state of Haryana, this group also attacked Christmas celebrations in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. They burned a statue of Santa Claus that was close to the missionary-led school.

Radical Indian Hindu groups have also accused missionaries of using Christmas celebrations to lure people to Christianity.

“When December comes, Christian missionaries become active in the name of Christmas, Santa Claus and New Year. They attract children by giving them Santa Claus gifts and attracting them to Christianity,” said Ajju Chauhan, a right-wing Indian Hindu group representative.
