Chronology of Antam Sentenced to Pay 1.1 Tons of Gold to Surabaya Residents Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Aneka Tambang Tbk ( Antam) was sentenced to pay a loss of IDR 817.4 billion or the equivalent of 1.1 tons of gold to Budi Said, an original businessman Surabaya.

This happened after the panel of judges chaired by Martin Ginting granted Budi Said’s lawsuit in a civil case with case number 158 / Pdt.G / 2020 / PN Sby at Court State (PN) Surabaya.

Quoted from Tribune Surya, Monday (18/1/2021), the chronology of the case began when Budi bought thousands of kilograms of gold through Eksi Anggraeni as marketing from Antam for Rp 3.5 trillion.

Of the 7,071 kilograms agreed between witness Budi Said and Eksi Anggraeni, gold bar received only 5,935 kilograms.

Meanwhile, Budi never accepted the difference of 1,136 kilograms. In fact, according to Budi Said, the money has been handed over to PT Antam.

Budi Said said that at that time he was interested in buying gold Antam because he was tempted by the discount program described by the defendant.

However, after making payments via transfer in stages, Budi Said did not accept the shortage of gold he bought.

As a result of no more gold deliveries, Budi Said felt cheated and then sent a letter to PT Antam’s Surabaya branch. However, the letter was never replied to.

So Budi Said sent a letter to Antam Pusat in Jakarta. However, the central Antam said it never sold gold at a discount.

After taking legal action for a long time, Budi Said also won the lawsuit at the Surabaya District Court (PN).

The panel of judges at the Surabaya District Court has instructed PT Antam to pay losses to Budi amounting to Rp. 814.4 billion. The panel of judges at the PN was of the opinion that PT Antam as Defendant I was responsible for Endang Kumoro’s actions and all the consequences.

Endang is the Head of the Precious Metal Gold Boutique (BELM) Surabaya I. Apart from Endang, there is also Misdianto as an Administrative Personnel, Ahmad Purwanto as the General Trading Manufacturing and Senior Officer of PT Antam and Eksi Anggraeni as a freelance marketing worker who at that time became an employee of the company.

According to the panel of judges. they were proven to have violated the law for the loss of 1,136 kilograms or 1.1 tonnes of gold purchased by Budi.

Antam, which is a subsidiary of the state-owned mining holding company PT Inalum (Persero), is filing an appeal against the Surabaya District Court’s decision regarding the Budi Said case.

Antam himself stated that he always sells precious metal gold bullion at the official price as stated on the website www.logammulia.com which is always updated regularly.

In addition, in running the Logam Mulia business, Aantam carries out a system direct selling or Antam gold direct transaction to the customer or the customer’s authority and never through another party.
