West Ham could not (1-1) with Burnley this Sunday on matchday 33 of the Premier, complicating their chances of reaching the European zone in the table, while Newcastle left the permanence very well done with their victory (2- 1) over Leicester.
The Hammers are seventh with 52 points, five behind fourth place and with one more game than Tottenham, and that the ‘Spurs’ lost on Saturday. David Moyes’s men did not take advantage of their chances, and in fact they suffered to equalize Weghorst’s goal.
Soucek salvaged that point for West Ham in the dying minutes of a match that was marred by Ashley Westwood’s serious injury after half an hour. Burnley, in their first game without Sean Dyche – their manager for the last nine years – adds a point that is not worth leaving the relegation zone.
The day also left this Saturday the triumph of a Newcastle that recovers the rhythm, after getting entangled days ago, with two consecutive victories that put it 12 points above relegation. Guimaraes’ double, the second in 95′, served as the victory for Eddie Howe’s men against the ‘Foxes’.
