The film “Oppenheimer” (Oppenheimer), directed by Christopher Nolan, dominated the nominations for the British BAFTA Film Awards, which will be distributed next February 18, in continuation of the events witnessed by the major film awards.
Nolan’s film about the inventor of the nuclear bomb received 13 award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Irishman Cillian Murphy, after he had previously won a large number of other awards.
Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos came in second place in the BAFTA nominations, as this film, which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, received 11 nominations, one of which went to Emma Stone in the Best Actress category.
As for the historical film “Killers of The Flower Moon,” by Martin Scorsese, it was nominated for nine awards, along with the film “The Zone of Interest,” which won the grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and deals with the diaries of the commandant of the Nazi extermination camp in Auschwitz.
The French film “Anatomie d’une chute,” which deals with the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband, received nominations for Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director for Justine Trier, and Best Screenplay and Best Actress for Sandra Holer.
The BAFTA Awards ceremony, like the Golden Globes, is an indication of what the Academy Awards, which are distributed in March in Los Angeles, may lead to. (AFP)
