Gyllenhaal admitted the frustration of not being cast in “Batman Begins” and “Moulin Rouge,” despite having reached the final stage of auditions. Although both actors were disappointed, Gyllenhaal stressed the importance of staying positive and moving forward.

Despite the rejections, Gyllenhaal felt motivated after speaking with Nolan.
