The mysterious sci-fi thriller Tenet had to be just one of the big summer movies and now turns out to be the only blockbuster of 2020. Corona is to blame and we have to have Warner Bros. thank you that the film did appear. The studio took a risk and, according to experts, it did not work out very well financially.
Now director has Christopher Nolan commented on the release via Los Angeles Times. Its main concern is that the “movie studios draw the wrong conclusion”. The film has collected around 350 million dollars worldwide to date after a great reception.
“Warner Bros. released Tenet, and I’m really happy that it made nearly $ 350 million. But I’m afraid the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from the release – then seeing where the movie worked well and how it worked for them. can generate much-needed income.
They now mainly look at where the film has not performed well. And that is being used as an excuse to let the cinema shows bear all the losses of the pandemic instead of taking action and adapting – or in other words reinventing our business. ”
Adapt to the new reality
“In the long run, going to the cinema is a part of life, just like restaurants and everything like that. For now, everyone has to adapt to a new reality,” Nolan added.
For the time being, it appears that Warner Bros. the release of Wonder Woman 1984 is not going to postpone again. Hopefully for fans of the silver screen this won’t happen either, and more bigger movies will be released in December and beyond.
