‘Inception’ was a huge success at the box office, but for fourteen years there was still one big question on viewers’ minds: what does the mysterious final shot in the film mean? The answer to that question now comes from Nolan himself.

Although Nolan’s answer to that one question won’t appeal to everyone, he does reveal some important insights: “It’s not a question I can comfortably answer,” he starts his story. “The point of that final shot is that Cobb’s character no longer cares about the spinning top. Cobb has also moved on and is happy with his children again. The ambiguity is not an emotional ambiguity. It is an intellectual ambiguity for the viewing audience.”

Whether Cobb is actually in reality or in a dream remains a mystery to fans. But with Cobb’s storyline coming to an end with his reunion with his family, many fans are already more than satisfied.
