Withdrawn due to hip discomfort during the FA Cup match between Chelsea and Preston North End (4-0), Christopher Nkunku finally avoided a relapse and another hard blow.
Returning from injury after several months of absence, Christopher Nkunku is starting to find a place in the Chelsea squad. The former RB Leipzig metronome scored his first goal in his new colors against Wolverhampton a few weeks ago. Since then, the 26-year-old has struggled to continue and still seems fragile after his major knee injury last summer. Mauricio Pochettino did not call him up for the FA Cup match against Preston North End. But according to information from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Nkunku’s physical problem is not serious and the French striker will be available next week.

At a press conference, Mauricio Pochettino clearly explained that Christopher Nkunku’s absence from the FA Cup was only preventative and that it was to give him time to return to his best level and in good shape. “Nkunku, we don’t want to put pressure on him. We know it’s difficult after a long period of injury. He was not involved because he suffered after training with a hip problem and we have to see if he can be ready for the next matches.” explained the Argentinian technician after the Blues qualified for the rest of the competition. For the moment, the player trained at PSG has played four matches with Chelsea.
