Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has passed away. The man who became world famous for his portrayal of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music was 91 years old.
Plummer was active to an old age, his career spanned more than seventy years. In it he won several awards, such as an Oscar in 2011 for Best Supporting Actor in the Film Beginners, Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards and a Golden Globe.
Plummer was a versatile actor who could do well on film, television and on stage. He made his Broadway debut in 1954 and has since appeared in many leading roles, such as Cyrano de Bergerac and the Shakespearean plays Macbeth and King Lear.
Plummer broke through with ‘The Sound of Music’ but continued to act and win prizes into old age:
